The Thank You Project: Day 88 (Board Games)
In our busy lives sometimes it’s good to stop and have some fun with the ones we love. Lately, KristaRose and I have been trying to have more consistent game nights for ourselves and our friends in order to have a relaxing evening. Board games are a great way to get some laughs and pass the time and really get you in a relaxing mode. It’s one of the rare things in our lives that can bring a family or group of friends closer without relying on technology and without being distracted. Today’s thank you goes out to having board games around to bring people together.
One of my favorite board games is Apples to Apples. It’s a pretty funny comparison game where you have to pick a card from your deck that the dealer will most likely choose based on his/her card that is put down. What ends up happening is you get some serious answers mixed in with really funny answers. The game is always different because you have a lot of possibilities as there are many different cards you can have. There are other board games too that are especially fun. Upwords is a great one where you have to make words but also stack on top of other people in order to claim a word row or column.
There is such a variety of board games out there for every person or group that is interested. There are more hardcore games that have actual storylines. There are the fun word games that are a family hit. There is the ever popular monopoly as well. Whatever your fancy, there is a board game to suit it.
The reason why I think it’s so important to play board games is that it brings people together in a fun way. It’s also very inexpensive as you only have to buy the game once and then you’re set to play it again and again. Talk about replay value! So this thank you goes out to the makers of board games who continue to come up with new ways for us to interact face to face with others. Thanks for making many of my nights!
