Everyday we grab a variety of objects. When we’re in a car, we grab the steering wheel. When we see someone in need, we grab a door to help them. When we play various sports, we grasp various objects. What makes it possible to do this? It’s the fact that we have thumbs. We are special and have the ability to grasp objects in ways that other animals would find it hard to do. We do so much with our thumbs that I wanted to dedicate today’s thank you towards having thumbs.
Imagine if you didn’t have thumbs for a minute. How would you go about doing your normal activities? You most likely would have to come up with new and creative ways to do your normal routine. That’s the beauty in having thumbs. God gave us thumbs for a reason and I think we need to step back and appreciate how much they do for us. I wouldn’t be able to drink a glass of water. I’d be way less efficient in typing on a keyboard (I use my thumbs all the time to hit the spacebar). I wouldn’t be able to grasp a basketball and pass it someone. I’d have to develop a funky style of bowling since there would only be two holes used instead of two plus the thumb hole.
But maybe most of all, if I didn’t have thumbs I couldn’t give things two thumbs up!
