I don’t think I’ve ever really met a person that has enjoyed seeing a good chunk of their salary go towards taxes but it is something that we all have to deal with on a paycheck by paycheck basis. We do hold the hope that when it comes to tax season we will get some kind of tax return. This year, I got a sizable tax return from Uncle Sam so I wanted to take today to be grateful for tax returns.
Tax returns usually happen when you take out 1 or 2 exemptions on your taxes. I made the mistake one year of taking 3 exemptions and I ended up paying a sizable amount of taxes at the end of the year. Since then I changed the way my paycheck is structured and only taking out 1 exemption actually led to me getting some money back!
It was great to have a little bit of free cash to utilize. I actually used a good chunk to upgrade my wardrobe (I’ll talk about that in a later post) and to treat a few friends to dinner with Krista. It was a great way to boost morale in these wintry months so I’m very thankful for tax returns!
