I couldn’t sleep last night, and you could hear the rain pounding down the window. I just sat watching the rain come down, it was such a calming feeling. It was nice to just sit, think, and listen to the water.
I live in an apartment complex that features a lake with a fountain…if you don’t believe me, check the apartment’s website. My apartment, unfortunately, doesn’t face it, but Michael’s place has a premo view of it. The other day, I was really stressed out and after coming over to play with Twix, I just sat on Michael’s patio with Twix and watched the water, the lake, the wind blowing the trees, the ducks milling around, tempting Twix to play with them…and besides Twix trying to tug me along to play with the ducks, it was wonderfully relaxing.
The lake in our apartments’ complex reminds me of the lake that I briefly lived by when I lived in San Luis Obispo. I can remember this as if it was yesterday, but in reality I wasn’t even two…it even surprises me how much I remember this…
In the place where we lived, there was a lake, a real lake, not this homemade whole in the ground, needs a fountain running to keep it from going stagnant things…but a lake that has a river, more like a creek, flow in and out of it…a fresh source of life and water…
I was standing in the backyard of the house we were living in and staring at the lake…feeling the wind on my skin, watching the ripples in the lake, the wind flowing through the grass…I was breathing it all in, just appreciating the goodness that God made on this earth…I can truly say that that was one of the most peaceful moments of my life, and I can still look back at that moment and remember the peace and serenity I felt, yes, as an almost two year old…
It’s just water, it has that wonderful calming effect. Water cleanses, water calms, water feeds, water gives life.
I remember going to the natural sycamore springs with my friends for a birthday, the natural springs fed into a hot tub with jets…it was a great time, water, bring people together.
It reminds me of a water ceremony at weddings, the bride and groom both pour their pitchers into one, combining the water, not being able to tell the difference between the husband and wife because they are one.
Water is amazing, earth’s greatest resource…take the time to appreciate the great water that gives us life and helps us enjoy our lives…thank God for water.
